Internships at The Dawn Wellness Centre and Rehab Thailand

Why Intern at The Dawn?

Joining The Dawn means stepping into a clinical environment that meets international standards of care, treating an international clientele. As the only residential treatment centre in Asia-Pacific to hold international CARF accreditation, we operate at the same rigorous standards as the top rehab facilities in the United States and Europe.

Interns at The Dawn don’t just observe addiction treatment; they gain exposure to a specialised trauma treatment model and a dedicated mental health programme that operate independently of our addiction programmes, offerings that are almost unheard of in the rehab industry. By interning with our diverse, international team in the peaceful and culturally rich sanctuary of Chiang Mai, you will gain unparalleled experience working at the forefront of global behavioural health innovation while enjoying the attractions and adventures available in Thailand’s second-largest city.

What Makes The Dawn Unique:

  • International Gold Standard: The only CARF-accredited facility in Asia, offering interns exposure to elite global operational and clinical standards.
  • Global Clinical Environment: Work alongside a multidisciplinary team of experts trained in the UK, USA, Australia, Asia and the Middle East, serving a diverse and often high-profile international clientele.
  • Our East-Meets-West Approach: A rare opportunity to see the seamless integration of cutting-edge therapeutic approaches with holistic, somatic, and mindfulness practices.
  • Dedicated Mental Health Pathway: At The Dawn, typically around half of our clients have no addiction problems at all. They come to us for our specialised mental health treatment pathway for healing from a wide range of primary issues including depressive and anxiety disorders, bipolar, personality disorders such as BPD, obsessive-compulsive conditions, eating disorders, burnout, ADHD, C-PTSD, and other conditions.
  • Trauma-Focused Specialisation: Unlike most rehabs, The Dawn features a signature two-level specialised Trauma Programme led by experts in the field, providing an immersive deep-dive into trauma processing and somatic release methodologies.
  • Transitional Support: The Dawn offers a Step Down Programme for long-term clients, based on the sober living home model, through which we provide custom-tailored transitional support that’s integrated with our primary care programme.
  • Lifetime Aftercare: We invest in our clients’ long-term success with robust alumni offerings, including three weekly therapist-led group therapy sessions, offered free for life as part of our ongoing aftercare commitment.

The Dawn’s Client Support Department

Our Client Support Department is situated within the Clinical Department, and serves as both the operational hub of The Dawn and as an auxiliary to our clinical team. The Support Department functions include: liaison with and support of clients, orchestrating client movement from pre-intake to discharge, providing international escorts for complex cases, and promptly responding to a wide range of client needs while managing risks and facility security. The team proactively maintains the overall safe and therapeutic environment at The Dawn, supports client progress in alignment with their treatment goals, assists and mentors clients with their therapeutic work, diffuses crisis situations, and guides clients in the acquisition of emotional regulation and distress tolerance coping skills. Many of our clients are high-acuity, presenting with a wide range of clinically complex conditions, and requiring specialised individual care and treatment plans which we follow according to instructions from our team of psychotherapists, therapists, and clinical psychologists.

During your internship, you will immediately begin having direct contact with our clients, getting to know them and their problems on an intimate level whilst receiving direct guidance and oversight from our senior team members to help support you in skill acquisition, bridging the gap between your education and its real-world applications.
